Set of 3 calligraphy brushes
Set of 3 calligraphy brushes – firm bristles
This set combines three firm-bristled brushes for calligraphy, sumi-e, wash painting, and ink drawing.
Their resistance under pressure facilitates structured strokes, variations in thickness, and lines that require a more stable tip than a very soft brush would provide.
The three sizes allow you to move from fine details to larger characters and broad gestures without changing the behavior of the bristles.
INFORMATION
Firm bristles offer more resistance under the hand. By increasing pressure, the tip opens to widen the stroke and then tightens when the brush is lifted.
The result also depends on the ink load and the paper. On highly absorbent Xuan paper, the stroke spreads quickly; semi-sized paper allows more time to control the outline.

USE & CARE
Before first use, dampen the bristles completely with clear water if they are still stiff, then gently remove excess water.
Load the brush gradually. For a more controlled stroke, remove excess ink on the edge of a dish before drawing.
After use, rinse until the water runs clear, reshape the tip with your fingers without twisting it, then let it dry flat or hanging.

♥ IKANE STUDIO TIP
With the same ink, draw a line with light pressure, then a second one while gradually increasing the force. Test this with all three sizes: you will immediately see which one offers the best balance of width, ink retention, and control.
