Hanging Calligraphy Brush Holder – upside-down drying and workshop storage

This hanging brush holder allows calligraphy brushes to dry upside down after rinsing, letting water drain naturally from the fibers.

After an ink session, a brush should not be left damp on a table. Water can stagnate in the bristles, rise towards the base, and gradually deform the tip.

With its black vertical structure, this stand can hang up to 6 brushes, keeping them accessible and helping to organize a calligraphy, ink, or wash space.

INFORMATION

Calligraphy brushes should be rinsed with clear water after use until the ink disappears from the fibers. Once clean, hanging them to dry helps preserve the shape of the tip.

Hanging the brush upside down allows water to flow naturally downwards instead of remaining near the ferrule or the base of the bristles. This action limits stagnant moisture and helps the fibers regain their alignment.

This type of stand is suitable for calligraphy, sumi-e, Chinese ink, wash, and soft brush painting brushes, provided they have a loop or tie for hanging.

FEATURES

Material: molded resin
Color: black
Dimensions: approximately 34 × 37 × 25 cm
Function: hang brushes upside down to facilitate water drainage after rinsing

USE & CARE

Rinse the brush with clear water until the ink disappears. Gently squeeze the bristles between your fingers or in a clean cloth to remove excess water, without twisting the tip.

Then hang the brush upside down, leaving the fibers free and uncompressed. Avoid the tips touching the tray, wall, or another tool during drying.

Place the brush holder on a stable, dry surface. Do not overload the structure beyond its stated capacity.

Clean the stand with a soft, slightly damp cloth if necessary, then dry before replacing the brushes.

PAIR WITH

To create a calligraphy space, this brush holder can accompany the bamboo calligraphy brush, the traditional rabbit hair brush or the set of 5 Chinese calligraphy brushes.

To prepare ink by hand, you can pair it with the 7.5 cm ink stone for beginners, the natural ink stone with lid or the 16 cm solid ink stick.

To work on a suitable surface, it can complement the handmade Xuan paper made of vegetable fibers, the semi-ripe Xuan paper or the roll of semi-treated vegetable paper.

To rest a brush between strokes, without waiting for it to dry completely, you can also check out the jade-effect ceramic brush rest or the Blue Dragon ceramic brush rest.

🤍 Ikane Workshop Tip
Rinse the brush until the water is clear, remove excess without twisting the bristles, then hang it upside down. This simple drying method helps the tip maintain its shape and extends the life of the brush.
