Set of 3 calligraphy brushes – mixed fibers
Set of 3 calligraphy brushes – mixed fibers
This set includes three brushes of different sizes for Chinese calligraphy, wash painting, sumi-e, and ink painting.
The small size is suitable for short strokes and details, the medium size for everyday exercises, while the largest one holds more water or ink for sweeping gestures and washes.
The mixed fibers combine flexibility and firmness, allowing you to vary the line width through pressure while enabling the tip to reform after the stroke.
INFORMATION
The three sizes allow you to directly compare ink capacity, stroke width, and brush response to pressure on the same paper.
A wider and longer brush holds more liquid and extends the stroke. Conversely, a smaller size facilitates changes in direction and precise work.

PREPARATION & CARE
If the fibers are still stiff upon first use, soften them gradually in water then remove the excess without twisting the tip.
Load the brush gradually and test on a scrap of the same paper to check its capacity and ink flow.
After use, rinse the fibers thoroughly with clean water, reshape the tip with your fingers, and let the brush dry completely before storing.

♥ IKANE STUDIO TIP
Load all three brushes with the same ink, then draw a slow line, a fast line, and a stroke with pressure. You will immediately see which one maintains its tip best and how much ink each size can hold.
