6-piece Gong Fu Cha set – 170 ml gaiwan, pitcher, and ceramic cups

This Gong Fu Cha set brings together the essential elements for short and repeated infusions: a gaiwan, a pitcher, and four ceramic cups.

The 170 ml gaiwan allows for control over infusion time, water quantity, and leaf expansion. The pitcher homogenizes the liquor before serving, ensuring each cup receives a balanced infusion.

The four cups allow for serving small quantities and observing the tea's evolution from one infusion to the next. The hand-painted ceramic provides a sober presence, with slight variations in decor between pieces.

INFORMATION

Gong Fu Cha is based on short, repeated, and more concentrated infusions than a classic long infusion. A larger quantity of leaves is used, with little water, followed by several successive steeps.

The gaiwan is used to infuse the leaves, the pitcher gathers the infusion before pouring, and the cups allow tasting each steep in small quantities. This arrangement helps to observe changes in aroma, color, and texture.

As each piece is hand-painted, patterns, shades, surface details, and finishes may vary slightly from one set to another.

Practice: Gong Fu Cha, loose leaf tea, small-format tasting

USE & CARE

Rinse the pieces with hot water before the first infusion to warm the ceramic and prepare for serving. Place the leaves in the gaiwan, pour hot water, then cover.

After a few seconds of infusion, pour into the pitcher to homogenize the liquor, then distribute into the cups. Gradually increase the infusion time with each steep according to the tea used.

Clean with clear water after use, without abrasive products. Do not heat directly on a flame, hob, or direct heat source.

CREATE YOUR TEA SPACE

To measure the leaves and gracefully slide them into the gaiwan, this set can be paired with the bamboo duo with tea scoop and adjusting pick.

To organize preparation and collect water used during rinses, it can accompany the compact bamboo tea tray.

For a more minimalist table, without a drainage system, you can also use it with the rectangular solid wood preparation tray.

🤍 Ikane workshop tip
Use 5 to 7 g of leaves for 150 to 170 ml of water. Infuse for 10 to 20 seconds for the first steep, then gradually increase the time. The pitcher helps to distribute a more homogeneous liquor into each cup.
