Set of 6 wood carving chisels – chrome-vanadium steel blades and sharpening stones
This set includes 6 wood carving chisels designed for hollowing, removing material, refining edges, shaping volumes, and working on details.
The different blade profiles allow for adjusting the stroke according to the cutting depth, the curve of the volume, or the precision required. The light wood handles offer a stable grip during long working sessions.
The set also includes two sharpening stones of different grits, useful for maintaining the blades and keeping a sharper cut over time. The wooden box allows for storing the tools between workshop sessions.
INFORMATION
This set is suitable for artisanal carving, wood engraving, shaping small volumes, refining details, and creating reliefs.
Chisels allow for removing material in a more controlled way than an abrasive tool. They are useful for defining a shape, opening a line, cleaning an edge, or progressively working a surface.
Regular sharpening is important in wood carving: a dull blade requires more force, marks the fibers more, and makes the gesture less precise.
CHARACTERISTICS
Contents: 6 carving chisels, 2 sharpening stones, and storage box
Blade material: chrome-vanadium steel
Handles: light wood
Sharpening: 240 grit stone and 1000 grit stone
Function: removing material, working edges, refining surfaces, and maintaining blades
USE & MAINTENANCE
Work with progressive passes rather than direct pressure. This method limits fiber splintering and allows for better control of cutting depth.
Stabilize the workpiece before carving and orient the cut away from the hand holding the wood. Chisels should be used with care, especially on small pieces or areas close to the fingers.
Use the 240 grit stone to revive a duller blade, then the 1000 grit stone to refine maintenance and improve the sharpness of the edge.
After use, remove wood dust, wipe the blades, and store the tools in the box. Avoid prolonged humidity to preserve the wooden handles and blades.
CREATE YOUR WOOD CARVING KIT
To complete this set with other cutting profiles, you can combine it with the
10 essential wood carving tools set.
For fine patterns, stamps, and small reliefs, the
8-tool seal engraving set
allows for more precise work on smaller formats.
For marking reference points, numbers, or signs on wood, the
letter and number punches
can complement personalization or identification work.
For drawing straight lines, parallel marks, or cutting guides before carving, the
T-square ruler
can help prepare the surface before working on the material.
🤍 Ikane Workshop Tip
Working with progressive passes rather than direct pressure helps maintain cleaner cuts and limits fiber splintering. Regularly maintaining the blades with the included stones helps preserve the precision of your work.
